   This term (from the Latin sigillum, meaning "small picture" or "seal," and confiteri, meaning "to acknowledge") refers to a confessor's obligation to keep absolutely secret whatever a penitent confesses as part of the sacrament of Reconciliation. (See CCC 1467)
